WASHINGTON, D.C. – Yesterday, America First Legal (AFL) asked the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights to investigate the Bethel, Ohio public school system for violating Title IX and President Trump’s Executive Order 14190, “Ending Radical Indoctrination in K-12 Schools.”
The Bethel School District maintains sex-segregated bathrooms and locker rooms but unlawfully permits individuals to use facilities corresponding with their preferred “gender identity.”
AFL recently secured a major victory against five Northern Virginia school districts after filing an administrative complaint to the Department of Education regarding similar policies.
Previously, AFL sued the Bethel Local School District over its transgender bathroom policies. The School District has repeatedly defended its unlawful conduct and is currently fighting against students and parents in the federal Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals to uphold it.
AFL is committed to ensuring the District complies with the law; we will keep fighting to protect our children.

“By continuing to allow boys to use girls’ restrooms and locker rooms based on their ‘gender identity,’ Bethel School District is blatantly defying common sense, federal law, state law, and President Trump’s Executive Orders. If Bethel wants to continue to live in a make-believe land where one’s sex is just a guesstimate, it should do so without federal funding. It’s really that simple,” said Ian Prior.
