Any person who, knowing that a person is an alien, brings to or attempts to bring to the United States in any manner whatsoever...knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that an alien has come to, entered, or remains in the United States in violation of law....[may] be fined [and] imprisoned not more than ten years, or both.
If two or more persons...conspire to prevent, by force, intimidation, or threat, any person from accepting or holding any office, trust, or place of confidence under the United States...or impede him in the discharge of his official duties, each of such persons shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than six years, or both.
