Problem:

AFL’s client, Jeff Vaughn, is an Emmy Award-winning white male with over 30 years of experience in broadcast journalism. After eight years at CBS as one of the company’s top news anchors, he was informed that he was being terminated in six months, and a search to find his replacement had begun. Allegedly, this decision was “not about the ratings,” as the company was apparently engaging in illegal diversity policies and quotas that discriminate against white men. Our client was replaced by a young black man who checked all the diversity requirements yet had significantly less experience. Despite our client’s soaring ratings, CBS executives believed the company had a “white problem” and decided to solve their “problem” by removing a successful news anchor because he was not a member of their preferred demographics.

Action:

AFL filed a lawsuit on behalf of Mr. Vaughn, alleging that CBS’ termination of our client violates Title VII and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act.

Result:

This case is currently being litigated.
