Texas, et al. v. U.S.

Case Number: 2:22-cv-00086-Z, N.D. Tex.

Title IX
April 2024
Status: Ongoing
Title IXWomen's Sports

Problem:

The Biden Administration’s new Title IX rule puts women and girls at risk on college campuses and in K-12 schools. Title IX is a federal statute that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any educational program that receives federal money. With the changes to the rule, the Biden Administration is attempting to redefine “sex” to encompass “gender identity.” This means that in order to receive federal funding, schools must allow men pretending to be women to enter women-only spaces, such as bathrooms and locker rooms. Additionally, the changes to this rule include an expanded definition of harassment to make the use of “improper pronouns” a possible infraction. This rule change is another radical attempt by the Biden administration to deny basic biology and is yet another unlawful assault on women’s rights.

Action:

Alongside Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and on behalf of professors at UT Austin, AFL has filed a complaint against the Biden Administration and a motion for a preliminary injunction to stop the implementation of Biden’s new Title IX rules from harming women and girls across the country.

Result:
