WASHINGTON, D.C. – America First Legal (AFL) is proud to officially announce the return of Gene Hamilton as President of the organization, following his service as Deputy White House Counsel to President Donald J. Trump. Hamilton served in the White House from January 20, 2025, until earlier this month, and now returns to lead AFL as it continues its efforts to uphold the rule of law, defend the U.S. Constitution, advance America First principles, and fight for the American people.

Hamilton co-founded America First Legal with Stephen Miller in 2021 to confront the radical left, stop the weaponization of government, defend American sovereignty, and protect the freedoms that make our nation great. Prior to founding AFL, Hamilton served at the U.S. Department of Justice as Counselor to the Attorney General, and as Senior Counselor to the Secretary at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. He has been instrumental in designing and defending many of the most critical and consequential policies and legal victories of the America First agenda.

During Hamilton’s tenure at the White House, AFL’s mission advanced under the steady leadership of Reed Rubinstein, who served as Senior Vice President before being confirmed by the U.S. Senate as Legal Advisor at the U.S. Department of State, and Dan Epstein, who continues to serve as AFL’s Vice President.
