Washington v. Adams County

Case Number: 25-2-01212-32

Jurisdiction: New York, NY

Immigration
March 2025
Status: Ongoing
Immigration

Problem:

The "Keep Washington Working Act" designates Washington State as an illegal sanctuary jurisdiction, which contradicts federal law. Adams County recognizes its obligation to cooperate with federal immigration officials. In retaliation, the Washington Attorney General’s Office tried to force Adams County to sign a "consent decree" that would have required the County to violate federal law for the next four years. After the county expressed its concern that the consent decree would require the County to break federal law, the Attorney General of Washington sued the County in State court, seeking an injunction prohibiting Adams County from cooperating with the federal government on immigration enforcement.

Action:

America First Legal, Cooper & Kirk PLLC, and Ard Law Group are representing Adams County in the Washington Attorney General’s lawsuit against the County.

Result:

This case is currently being litigated.
