City of Huntington Beach, et al. v. State of California, et al.

Case Number: 8:25-cv-00026-SSS-PD

Immigration
March 2025
Status: Ongoing
Immigration

Problem:

California's Sanctuary State Laws severely restrict cooperation between local law enforcement and federal immigration authorities, jeopardizing public safety. Since California began enacting these laws in 2017, tens of thousands of illegal aliens have been released by local law enforcement back into communities, and violent crime has surged across the state.

Action:

America First Legal filed an amended complaint against the State of California, Governor Gavin Newsom, and Attorney General Robert Bonta on behalf of the City of Huntington Beach to protect citizens by overturning the state’s illegal “Sanctuary State Laws,” which violate federal immigration, criminal, and civil rights law.

Result:

This case is currently being litigated.
