WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, America First Legal (AFL) filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of investigative journalist John Solomon against the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) and the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) for illegally concealing declassified Presidential records of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) “Crossfire Hurricane” investigation – i.e., the sham Russian-collusion witch-hunt against former President Trump.
The Presidential Records Act obligates the National Archives to ensure that “the Presidential records of a former President shall be available” to the former President or his designated representative. In June 2022, former President Trump named Mr. Solomon as a designated representative so he could obtain the declassified records.
Mr. Solomon then requested that the National Archives provide him access to a binder of documents related to the FBI’s abusive “Crossfire Hurricane” investigation of President Trump. President Trump declassified these documents in early 2021. The National Archives, however, has unlawfully denied Mr. Solomon access to these documents on the pretext that they were turned over to the DOJ.

This is another example of the Biden Administration and its allies in the government abusing their power to hide the truth from the American people. AFL is determined to do everything it can to ensure the documents are rightfully handed over to Mr. Solomon and that the American people learn the whole truth about the scandalous and partisan witch-hunt of President Trump.

Former President Trump declassified the FBI’s records to make public the truth, but the Biden Administration and the National Archives are now doing everything in their power to keep the Russia lie alive by obstructing Mr. Solomon’s access to these records.
