WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, as part of its initiative under the Center for Legal Equality, America First Legal (AFL) asked the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) to open a civil rights investigation into Starbucks for violating Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. AFL also wrote to Starbucks’ Chair, Mellody Hobson, and its Board of Directors demanding that the Company’s management stop violating its fiduciary duty to shareholders.
In 2020, Starbucks announced its commitment to “advancing social and racial equity,” and began implementing mentorship programs open to only Black, Indigenous and People of color as well as hiring quotas based on race. See excerpts from the Starbucks website below:
In 2022, Starbucks doubled down and launched the “Leadership Accelerator Program” based on increasing “diverse representation in the leadership pipeline at Starbucks.” Hiring based on immutable characteristics such as race is illegal under federal law. See below:

The odious, divisive, and destructive policies of Starbucks must be stopped. AFL is determined to stop the despicable “equity” policies of woke companies across the United States and continues to fight for equal opportunity for all Americans.
