Problem:
Patrick Hogarty, an educator and Dean of Students with Cherry Creek School District for almost two decades, was wrongfully terminated when he shared opposing viewpoints at a district-mandated training program on race and equity. This opposing viewpoint Mr. Hogarty shared was that he identifies as American and believes that the United States is the greatest country in the world. The School District’s Equity Director recognized his comments as having “racist undertones,” and he was terminated shortly after that under the guise of “budgetary reasons.”
Action:
AFL sued the Cherry Creek School District and several school administrative officials for Mr. Hogarty’s wrongful termination and for violating his First Amendment right to speak and express his views.

This case is currently being litigated.
