DOJ’s Answer to AFL’s First Amended Complaint

AFL filed an amended complaint in light of the Court’s order in order to pursue documents related to the underlying FOIA requests.

The Court decided in favor of the Department of Justice on AFL’s policy or practice claim and dismissed Count 2 of the complaint.

AFL filed a lawsuit against DOJ alleging that DOJ had a policy of improperly denying AFL’s requests for expedited processing on FOIA requests involving matters of significant public interest.

DOJ denied AFL’s request for Expedited Processing for its request related to the screening of individuals brought out of Afghanistan and into the United States.

AFL filed a FOIA to obtain critical information related to the Biden Administration’s withdrawal from Afghanistan, including information about the safety and security vetting and screening of evacuees from Kabul.
