America First Legal Releases Academic Records of Thomas Crooks, Shooter in the First Assassination Attempt Against President Trump

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, America First Legal (AFL) released the academic records of Thomas Matthew Crooks, the shooter in the first assassination attempt of  President Trump on July 13, 2024, at a rally near Butler, Pennsylvania. 

AFL obtained these records from the Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) as part of its ongoing multi-front investigation into the first attempted assassination of President Trump.

On July 17, 2024, AFL and counsel Wally Zimolong filed a Pennsylvania Right to Know Law (RTKL) request with CCAC for Thomas Matthew Crooks’s student files. On August 18, 2024, CCAC denied AFL’s request on the basis that the records were related to an ongoing criminal investigation. On September 10, 2024, AFL appealed CCAC’s denial to the Pennsylvania Office of Open Records. On November 19, 2024, the Pennsylvania Office of Open Records issued a final determination that CCAC is required to provide AFL with the requested student records. 

AFL obtained the following records from CCAC:

1. Thomas Matthew Crooks’ official Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) scores, dated March 13, 2021 and March 12, 2022.
2. Thomas Matthew Crooks’ official high school transcript from Bethel Park High School, dated June 20, 2022.
3. Thomas Matthew Crooks’ official Advanced Placement (AP) test score report from the College Board, dated July 5, 2022.
4. Thomas Matthew Crooks’ official University of Pittsburgh transcript with academic program history, dated July 3, 2022.
5. Record detailing a meeting between Thomas Matthew Crooks and an academic advisor at the Community College of Allegheny County that occurred on October 18, 2022.
6. Thomas Matthew Crooks’ official transcript from the Community College of Allegheny County, dated July 14, 2024.
